In my life this week…
Well school has started back for us at least. The public system is still out on strike and the rhetoric from both sides is pretty fierce. It is going to be a while. I feel sorry for those in grade 12 who’s graduation is in jeopardy. I was talking to the teen aged daughters of friends of ours. The Grade 12 girl wants to get back so she can graduate. The Grade 10 girl is enjoying the extended summer break.
I have now had three families ask about homeschooling. Unfortunately it was in the context of whether I could take on extras. Fortunately they were all at least sort of joking. I know my kids and I have a pretty eccentric teaching style so I don’t think adding kids would work well.

I finished writing the posts on our camping trip to the Canadian Rockies. We had a great time and saw some truly magnificent scenery. I would say the most spectacular days were days: 2, 5 and 6.
- Canadian Rocky Mountains: Day 1 Drive to Jasper
- Canadian Rocky Mountains: Day 2 Jasper and Gondola Ride
- Canadian Rocky Mountains: Day 3 Old Fort Point
- Canadian Rocky Mountains: Day 4 Woodpecker Trail and Annette Lake
- Canadian Rocky Mountains: Day 5 Maligne Canyon
- Canadian Rocky Mountains: Day 6 Ice Fields Parkway
- Canadian Rocky Mountains: Day 7 Banff
- Canadian Rocky Mountains: Day 8 Drive Home
I’m Cleaning…

The “Becoming a Minimalist” board decided to do another 40 bags in 40 days with a list of target areas. I have done kitchen cupboards, drawers and counters. I still have some left for each of those but there are days coming up that I can’t do so I will come back to them. So far I am at about 4 bags.

In our homeschool this week…
We are getting in to a routine that hopefully will have settled by the end of next week. This year I have Grandma helping with English and Social Studies. My wife has arranged her schedule so she can be home Thursday mornings. See is going to do some lessons and is trying to start a kids choir.
I did write all of my curriculum post but the vacation meant I haven’t done a weekly wrap up in a while.
I’m Praying for…
There are a couple of kids that could really use your prayers right now. One was in a serious car crash. The other two are battling cancer and received bad news recently.

I hope it goes well getting your routine settled. We are still trying to figure ours out, but have a decent pattern. The decluttering is going well still. I’ve been too busy to do anymore, but at least I’m not adding more clutter. Have a good weekend.
Seems like everyone is pitching in to help with the kids schooling. You are doing a great job. My husband stayed home with our kids for 7 years while running a business from home. Now that we both work outside we flip-flop our schedule to school our kids (although ours are older which makes it easier for childcare issues) and we really enjoy it. I also love your reading selections for them. Hoping you have a great year. ~Visiting from Weekly Wrap-up
I’ll have to get caught up on your vacation posts! It’s too bad about the school strike. Maybe more families will get serious about actually homeschooling. I thought even your before pictures look pretty good! Sorry about the bad news. I’ll be praying.
I hope the routine gets going quickly for you. I’m sitting here staring at a pile of school books that I’ve yet to make lesson plans for and am wondering if I’ll ever figure out a schedule for this year that will work for us with my new job. BUT it seems to me that I remember this same issue (or close enough to) in the past few years right at the beginning as well. We always fall into our regular routine that we’re used to and enjoy one way or another
