In my life this week…
The week started out with a Scout hiking/camping trip. They started on Saturday, hiked part of the way and then camped overnight with shelters they made themselves. In the morning they hiked the rest of the way to where we picked them up. We got to Mass with about five minutes to spare. Philip had a great time although I had to keep poking him in church to keep him awake. At least he wasn’t alter serving that week.

Next summer the 73rd World Science Fiction Convention is being held in Spokane, Washington. That is only a six hour drive for us so we will be attending. I bought our passes a couple of weeks ago and the hotel bookings open on Tuesday so that is all done now. I can’t wait to go.
Out public school strike is over. While it didn’t affect me it did affect a number of our friends. At least they only missed three weeks of school.
I’m Cleaning…

I am continuing the 40 bags in 40 days challenge and I am up to 11.5 bags. That puts me 7.5 bags behind but I am catching up. I did another cupboard that was mostly junk. Some could be donated but a lot was just garbage.

I also dealt with the water cooler table. This was the only thing in the dining room that needed attention. I wasn’t all that bad but I do need to dust more often.

In our homeschool this week…
We are falling into a routine which is good. I started the kids learning JavaScript through Khan Academy. They are enjoying it and making good progress. Other than that they are continuing to plug away at their other assignments.
Philip is researching Plate Tectonics. Today I found him on a page that didn’t look related to what he was supposed to be looking at. I asked him about it and he explained it to me. It is a good example of the rabbit holes he goes down on Wikipedia. The page was titled: Seismic Migration.

Ian is continuing to fly through his lessons. At some point I will hit a point where he doesn’t already know it and we will slow down. One of the things we did this week was talk about beavers. He drew a picture of a beaver lodge complete with the underwater entrances.

Margaret looked at cells through the microscope. We got some out of my cheek with a tooth pick and we looked at a flake of skin.
I’m Praying for…
I am still praying for the same people as last week. There have been no changes.

I’m so glad you had a good week. The kids seem to be getting into a great routine. Hey, at least the house is clean which is more than I can say for mine right now, lol! Thanks for sharing your week with us.
I love the drawing. Sadly enough, that is still my drawing level. 🙂
I’m thrilled the kids are enjoying JavaScript. I can’t get Amber interested in any programming, which is crazy since between her two parents we have 3 degrees in computer science. It’s just not her thing.
I’m glad Philip enjoyed his camping. Sounds like quite an adventure.
I was trying to explain cells to my 7th grader … think it’s time to go get a microscope
“Only 6 hours” away. Ha! Sounds exciting! The cabinet looks like my before and afters but I’m always to chicken to post. Ian did a great job on the beaver lodge drawing. Isn’t the freedom to follow some rabbit trails great?
That is quite the back pack! It looks heavy. And I must say that building their own shelters was really roughing it! I can’t believe you went to church after all that! I’m exhausted just thinking about it! I’ll keep praying too.
