Weekly Wrap up: An Ordinary Week

In my life this week…

This has been a very typical week for us with no extra activities. I figure that I will go over what our activities are. On Monday Ian has karate and the everyone has swimming lessons. Tuesday Margaret has Cub Scouts. Wednesday they all have catechism and Philip is in his confirmation year. Thursday Ian has Beavers, Margaret volunteers with them and Philip has Scouts. Friday is my day off. I insist on keeping it free. I need a day when I don’t have to drive everywhere.

I’m Cleaning…

Under The Stairs
Under The Stairs

On Saturday we finished emptying out under the stairs and my wife dealt with the six boxes that I had set aside for her. I counted 14 boxes as being purged but I lost count and I think it is closer to 16. I have some boxes to put back in. One has books that Ian might like to look at for science. I also have a box of vinyl records that I am going to try to sell. They are all kids records like Dr Seuss. I have nothing that will play them.

In our homeschool this week…

We are still plugging away at everything. As usual I feel behind in some areas and ahead in others. Thanks to Grandma they are reversed from the usual problem areas. We are ahead in English and Social Studies but behind in Science and Math. It will work out. I feel that this will work better as it is always best to save the easiest for last.

I discovered a new website for online courses. I have signed Philip up for a Chinese Language course. The site is British and is called Alison.

Friday afternoon is the our education free time. The kids can work on projects unrelated to their normal course work but still educational. So far this year they have been learning how to program in Javascript. This week I decided to switch it up a little and I gave them an old CDROM drive, a screwdrivers and told them to take it apart. It was interesting for them to see how it worked and what the pieces looked like.

I’m Praying for…

There haven’t been any changes since last week so I am still praying for the same list of people.

  1. I do so understand the need for a break from driving around town to various activities. Taking apart the cd rom looks like it was a fun and interesting learning experience for the kids! I’ll have to check out Alison!

  2. With your schedule, I would need to make a day of no driving, too! And I’m praying with you for the boy’s friends and family.
