In my life this week…
This last week had my mother in town for the Fall Wine Festival. We are in the Okanagan Valley and there are some very nice wineries here. As usual we did a bit of a hike in a local park that we hadn’t been to before. It turned out to be shorter than we though but it did have a nice waterfall.

We still had lots of time before we wanted to go for dinner so we went to another park where we saw some nice fall colors. The kids spent some time rolling down the hill. I would have been so dizzy. We also had fun skipping rocks.

I like trying to take pictures of the rocks skipping. I got a good one a couple of years ago and another this time around. You can see the first splash and then the rock just starting to enter the water but at a bad angle. I am guessing it didn’t skip the second time.

Dinner was at a local pub. The local laws have changed and as long as they provide somewhat separated area kids are allowed. We were on a raised area overlooking the rest of the pub and had a great view of the lake. It also meant a very large pub burger for Daddy.
Kris over at Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers wrote a post “10 Clues You Might be a Homeschool Dad” from the point of view of a working dad homeschooler. I decided that I could write one from the point of view of a teacher, homeschooling dad. I posted my 7 Clues yesterday.
I’m Cleaning…

I have been working on the work bench. I want to get peg board up behind the bench to hang the tools on. Still I have a bag of garbage and a box to donate off the bench. My wife wants to properly finish the wall. I agree but it means I have a lot more work to do in there before we could start on that.

In our homeschool this week…
This week has been all about finishing up the list from Grandma in English and Social Studies. Next week is going to be focused on Math and Science. I do have to do some Social Studies with Margaret. We have a local election starting and part of her year needs to be government. I plan to have her ask questions via email of the candidates. I also need to figure out who I am going to vote for. So you will see some politics coming through on this blog.

On our walk we came across a tree that had been felled by a beaver. It took him a couple of clues to figure out what had brought down the tree but when he did he was so excited. He is in Beavers and we just studied beavers.

What a fun discovery that log must have been. And that’s a very cool picture of the rock skipping. I hope you all have a great week.
Sounds like you all had a great time with Grandma! I love seeing your photos of the Canadian countryside! I’ll be checking our your 7 Clues post now!
