My thoughts: We saw a number of dragonflies on our vacation and I got a good close up picture of one. I wanted to see how hard it would be to make an origami one particularly with the four wings. The first one I did had me cut the wings down the middle to make four where there were once two. It works and it looks right but the second video got four wings without any cutting. I also prefer that one especially in the gold foil. I would love to find an iridescent blue or green foil.
Origami DragonFly
Happy: 9/10 I liked the results and it was cool figuring out they got the four wings.
Relaxed: 9/10 No crumbled up paper this time. The gold one came out better since it was the third but that is to be expected.
Intellectual: 7/10 It was easy but I did take the time to figure out the wings and that was interesting.
There were a number of models in the books that I had way back that I either tried and failed to complete or simple decided that they were beyond my ability. A dragon was one that I never even attempted as I saw it as to hard for me. So when I saw one labelled as easy in my search I had to give it a try. I did rate it as intermediate but I did end up with a completed model. I had to start with smaller paper, 15cm rather than 21cm and that did affect my results.
Origami Dragon
Happy: 8/10 I want to fold another on starting with a larger piece of paper. The legs are not folded properly on my model. They ended up more mushed then folded. I am happy though because my end result does look like a dragon.
Relaxed: 7/10 I had a few problems particularly with the legs. There are few places were I found it hard to see what was happening. Repeating got me through it.
Intellectual: 9/10 I knew from past models how the legs should be done and that helped.
This is the first model that I made in my re-acquaintance to the art. I have always liked Pandas and the model had come up in the discussions that I mentioned in the Origami Penguin post. This one took me longer and a lot more rewinding. I found it tougher that the penguin but that also may be because it was the first that I had done in quite some time.
Happy: 10/10 I love this model. It is so cute and captures the essence of a panda perfectly.
Relaxed: 7/10 I did a lot of rewinding and made a few miss-folds that fortunately did not effect the end result.
Intellectual: 9/10 It brought back memories and terms that I had forgotten. It was also challenging to build.
